In January 2020, within the activities in Strumica, a Shelter Center
Center for care of women victims of domestic violence and children was opened.
The Shelter Center gives comprehensive social services for victims of domestic violence, women and children, which can be accommodated for a period of up to 1 year, following the principle of 3 + 3 = 6 months and the services are aimed at providing individual support, meeting the daily needs and legal counseling or social-psychological assistance when urgent intervention is needed, including mobile crisis intervention teams.

Capacity -13 people, 8 women and 5 children, 2 of which for emergency intervention and 24-hour care.

The Shelter Center “Safe House” is an institution that offers psycho-social service in the community with a 24-hour working regimen.

Depending on the risk assessment and needs, the service can be short-term or long-term.
The Shelter Center provides services to women who have suffered domestic violence of any kind. Use of the service is on a voluntary basis, with the exception of working with children at risk, based on guidelines from the CSS.

The basic principles of the psycho-social service are the following:
– Providing emergency support;
– Unconditional support for injured children
– safety and security;
Keeping the location of the SC secret and preventing visits by perpetrators or persons who are potential threats;
Confidentiality, except when the information contains risk data for a child;
– Respecting the best interest of the injured person;
– Respecting the opinion, uniqueness and personal dignity of the clients;
– Determining the interests and well-being of the child;
Respecting the basic human rights, respecting the dignity and personality of the child, non-discrimination;
Multidisciplinary approach and inter-institutional cooperation.
