04/ 16/ 2014: Training on topic “Perform Your Identity”

In the period from 06th to 13th of April 2014, members of the National Network to end violence against women and domestic violence, attended the training organized by the group “Let’s…” from Serbia, for performance art entitled “Perform Your Identity”.

At this international seven day training took part participants from Iceland, Serbia, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Spain.

The objectives of the training were divided into two parts : 1.) In the first part of the training were recognized and built capacities of participants in order to help them to discover their identity, to define their role in terms of family, culture, customs, religion, tradition, sexual orientation as important segments in the creation of one’s identity. With the demands of their own and others’ understanding of identities, participants were able to understand the roots and foundations of stereotypes and prejudices towards different marginalized groups. 2.) The second part of the training was focused on introduction to performance art and the ways in which you can use as a tool for enhancing and highlighting the importance of resolving certain issues and influence change in public opinion, and in conducting local campaigns.

For the final product of this training, participants prepared performance that was performed in front of audience. The theme of the performance was presentation of the forms of discrimination on various marginalized groups, and specific topics of the few parts of the performance were chosen by the participants themselves driven by the situation in their countries .
