12/07/2010: Establishing the National Network against violence on women and domestic violence

On 7 December 2010, at Hotel „Karposh“ – Skopje, a meeting which marked the official founding of the Network against violence on women and domestic violence was held. Representatives of 21 NGO’s, who work in this area and are funders of the Network, attended the meeting.

At the meeting, key documents of the Network were adopted: The Principles and Strategic objectives and activities of the Network, Rules of Procedure, Rules on conflict of interest and the Rules for communication. The funding organizations, officially joint the Network by signing the Membership Admission.

Several months of consultations and meetings with the NGO’s on the needs and the possibilities for networking of the organizations which operate in this area and the creation of an efficient model for their joint work, were conducted before this event.

During the first 6 – 12 months, the National network of violence against women and domestic violence will act as an informal network. After this period, the Network will be registered as a legal entity according to the Law on associations and foundations.

At the final meeting, Ms. Elena Dimushevsak from the Macedonian Centre on Women’s Rights – Shelter Centre was officially elected as a Coordinator of the Network. She will coordinate the communication and the implementation of the Programme and the working plan of the Network.
