30.09.2015: Three-day training on “Advocacy for sustainability of specialized services for victims of domestic violence“

From 25 – 27 September training on “Advocacy for sustainability of specialized services for victims of domestic violence” was held in hotel “Etno Selo-Timchevski” in Kumanovo. 14 representatives from 5 partner organizations of the Network, and two representatives from the project team attended the training. The training was led by two trainers with whom the Network has already established successful collaboration. The following topics were included: Defining of advocacy goal; Identifying and analysis of stakeholders; Selection of advocacy strategy; Provision of sustainability from additional funding sources – Possibilities for collaboration with the business sector; Inclusion of public and media. The sessions contributed towards the process of identifying of relevant stakeholders in each municipality, defining advocacy strategies and determining a time-frame to implement the steps. Product of the training was a Advocacy Plan for Sustainability of Services with defined steps and time-frame for implementation.

The project “Advocacy for provision of sustainability of specialized services for victims of domestic violence on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia” implemented by National Network to End Violence against Women and Domestic Violence started in July 2015 and will finish in May 2016, with the support from USAID and Open Society Foundation Macedonia.

Within the project activities, until now a coordinative meeting was held with the partner organizations of this project and a working meeting with the members of the National Network to End Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence to agree the implementation of a joint campaign “16 Days of Activism against Violence against Women”.

Next activity will be a workshop on budgeting of specialized services whose product it is planned to be a plan for the sustainability of any specialized service (counseling center, SOS hotline, crisis center, shelter center and free legal aid).

This document, together with the other documents that are being prepared, will be used in the process of advocacy for sustainability of specialized services on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia.
