03/ 21/ 2013: Partnership with National Council for Gender Equality “With joint efforts – Towards new European standards for combating gender based violence”

National Network to end violence against women and domestic violence is a local partner of the National Council for Gender Equality within the project “With joint efforts – Towards a new European standards for combating gender based violence”, funded by the European Union, which will be implemented in five countries of the region (Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia) and Austria. The project will be implemented in 2013 and 2014.

Framework for project activities is the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating all forms of violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention, adopted by the Council of Europe on 7th of April 2011) and signed by the Republic of Macedonia in July 2011.

The main objective of the project is contribution to the establishment of comprehensive legislation and policies to protect women from gender based violence in the Western Balkans, as a condition for achieving democracy, fulfillment of human rights, social inclusion and harmonization with European values. In addition, the project aims to strengthen the capacity of women’s organizations and networks for analysis, monitoring and advocacy in the field of protection of women from gender based violence through long- term regional cooperation and learning from the EU experience.
