20.02.2017: Working meeting with presidents of women’s forums of political parties

Working meeting on the topic “Violence against women – part of the agenda of the political parties in the Republic of Macedonia” took place on 18.02.2017 in Hotel Bellevue, Skopje. Present at the working meeting were 19 representatives from 12 political parties in the Republic of Macedonia who on November 25th signed the Joint Declaration: Prevention and protection from different forms of violence against women and domestic violence.

The purpose of the meeting was to agree on the following steps and to prepare action plan.

After the welcoming address of the executive director, Elena Dimushevska, there was a presentation of the previously implemented activities with political parties in the Republic of Macedonia on the topic of gender-based violence. The current situation in the country with violence against women and domestic violence was also presented.

The working meeting was part of the activities of the project “Preventing violence against women in accordance with EU standards,” funded by Kvinna till Kvinna, as well as part of the activities within the project “Violence against women part of the agenda of the political parties in the Republic of Macedonia” funded by Civika Mobilitas, project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation for civil society support in Macedonia, implemented by NIRAS from Denmark, Macedonian Center for International Cooperation from Macedonia and Swedish Institute for Public Administration (SIPU).
