“The Importance of Women’s unification in ending gender based violence”

Within the 16 days of activism to end violence against women campaign, during November-December 2018, the National Network to End Violence against Women and Domestic Violence organized public debates in partnership with the Women`s Forums/Unions of political parties in Macedonia on the topic “The Importance of Women’s unification in ending gender based violence”. Public debates were organized in Bitola (30 November), Sveti Nikole (3 December), Strumica (4 December), Shtip (5 December) and Kumanovo (6 December).

 The aim of the debates was to present the cooperation and achievements up to date, as well as to discuss future steps. The debates were also used to present the basic concepts of the Istanbul Convention, as well as the obligations of the local self-government regarding prevention from violence and providing protection to women-victims.

Besides by the representatives from the National Network to End Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, the participants in the debates were also addressed by the representatives from the Unions and Forums of the local political parties.
