02/07/2013: ONE BILLION RISINGMACEDONIA – 14.02.2013 in 14:00, Macedonia square

National Network to end violence against women and domestic violence together with V-Day Macedonia joined the global mission of V-Day and are organizing the event One Billion Rising on “Macedonia” Square in Skopje on 14.02.2013 at 14.00.

This event has the purpose to collect globally on the same day and hour one billion people who will leave their everyday tasks and through dance show their will to end violence against women. Since these are new times and require new common ways to stop violence against women, we would like to activate men and women from the Republic of Macedonia trough dancing. You can find more information about the global campaign at the following link: http://www.onebillionrising.org/

The official song of this event is Break the Chain produced by Eve Ensler, and the same choreography has been prepared and will be uniformly performed in all countries that support this event. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fL5N8rSy4CU.

The main purpose of this event is to raise people’s awareness of the violence that affects women, based on statistical data that show that 1 in 3 women worldwide will be beaten or raped in their lifetime.  Considering that the population in the world counts 7 billion people it turns out that more than one billion women and girls will be victims of violence at least once in their lifetime.

Therefore we invite you on  14.02.2013 at 14 am to leave your job or private commitments and join us, so that along with a billion people, activists, writers, thinkers, celebrities, women and men from around the world we can express our  anger through dance, demanding an end of the violence against women.
