06.12.2016: Debate: “Women victims of domestic violence – Potential homeless persons?!“

Following the publication by “Public” – “Homelessness Around Us: Public, Hidden, Potential,” where women victims of domestic violence are covered as a separate focus group, the need has arisen to actualize this issue and take concrete steps to solve it.

For that purpose, on 6. December in hotel Porta – Skopje, a debate took place on the topic: “Women victims of domestic violence – Potential homeless persons?!“ organized by National Network to End Violence against Women and Domestic Violence; Association for Research, Communication and Development “Public” and “One Can”.

At the debate, the situation with the violence against women and domestic violence was presented by Elena Dimushevska, Executive Director of the National Network to End Violence against Women and Domestic Violence. It was followed by a presentation of the findings from the research “Homelessness Around Us: Public, Hidden, Potential” by Klimentina Ilijevski, Association for Research, Communication and Development “Public”, as well as the challenges faced by single mothers in Macedonia, presented by Daniela Markovska and Biljana Kostadinovska from “One Can”.

The event was part of the activities within the campaign “16 Days of Activism to End Violence against Women” implemented with financial support from Kvinna Till Kvinna.
